First Look or Traditional?

There are many differences when it comes to a traditional wedding and a first look. Outlined below are some key differences between the two. Have questions regarding your wedding photography? Contact us at info@natecreamer.com .

Traditional Wedding Highlights

  • The first time you see your fiance will be in front of all your guests.
  • Formal family portraits as well as bride and groom creative shots will be done immediately after the ceremony.
  • It is a good idea to assign a family member to round up family and friends for photos. Typically, guests tend to disperse after the ceremony and can be difficult to gather.
  • The bride and groom will typically miss out on cocktail hour for their creative portraits. The only way to avoid this and still get great imagery is to to have an extensive time gap between the end of the ceremony and the start of cocktail hour.
  • A traditional wedding day typically starts later in the day compared to a first look.

First Look Wedding Highlights

  • Typically a first look creates a relaxed environment, relieving nerves and stress.
  • More photojournalistic and organic images will be created during the first look, capturing true emotion.
  • The first time you see your fiance will be private. This will allow the both of you to enjoy each other alone before being in front of an audience.
  • Formal family portraits as well as bride and groom creative portraits will be done before the ceremony. This way, once the ceremony has ended, the bride and groom can head straight to the party.
  • The bride and groom will attend the cocktail hour allowing them to socialize with guests before the formalities of the reception.
  • More images are yielded due to the extra components of the first look and cocktail hour.
